MILL SPRING—The Spartan Race is returning to the Tryon International Equestrian Center on August 3 and August 4, offering a series of obstacle course races designed to test participants’ endurance, strength, and agility.
The race series includes various race types, such as Sprint, Super, and Beast, each with different levels of difficulty and distance.
The event is open to individuals of all fitness levels, from beginners to elite athletes. Created by Joe De Sena, a former Wall Street trader, the Spartan Race aims to inspire individuals to push themselves to their limits and lead more active lives. The dynamic course at TIEC features well-trodden horse trails for fast straightaways, as well as challenging red clay hill climbs and rushing creek beds that will put participants’ dexterity to the test.
Known as the world’s leading obstacle race series, each Spartan Race is meticulously designed to test endurance, strength, agility, and mental toughness. Participants will overcome obstacles, push their limits, and discover what they are truly made of.
The distances available for the Spartan Race include the Sprint 5K with 20 obstacles, the Super 10K with 25 obstacles, and the Kids Race, which offers various options for children ages 4 to 14. The minimum age to participate in the Sprint or Super race is 14 years old on the day of the event.
Registrants will receive a Spartan headband with their bib number, chip timing, and individual race time. Upon finishing the race, participants will earn a Finisher Medal along with a Trifecta Medal Wedge Piece, a Finisher T-shirt, a Finisher Beverage, and, of course, the well-deserved bragging rights for life.
