Polk County High School students recently had an opportunity to peer into the skies and learn more about the celestial objects found there.
PCHS science teacher Shannon Haynes and students put to use a telescope donated by the Bertings family. Local astronomer Randy Flynn donated an eyepiece for the telescope and also visited Haynes’ astronomy class to help guide students in its use.
Flynn, who owns Squirrel Valley Observatory-MPC W34 in Columbus, also helped clean the telescope and properly align all parts to provide an optimal viewing experience.
