POLK COUNTY—The Board of Directors for the Stuart and Margaret L. Forbes Foundation recently announced the recipient of the 2024 Margaret L. Forbes Distinguished Scholar Award. The 2024 scholarship is awarded to Harrison Ashworth by the Forbes Foundation and the Polk County Community Foundation.

This $13,500 renewable scholarship totals $54,000 and is awarded to a Polk High student who demonstrates outstanding leadership, high academic achievement, and participation in clubs and extracurricular activities.  

Harrison is an honor student at Polk County High School. He is an AP Scholar, a leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club and the Unified Champions Club, and also a member of the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. Harrison is a four-year Varsity letterman in soccer and a one-year letterman in tennis.

Harrison has many outside interests and hobbies.  He especially enjoys spending time in the outdoors, watching sports, and spending time with his family.

Harrison plans to attend N.C. State University, where he will major in Business Management.  Harrison is the son of Mike and Amy Ashworth of Tryon.
