LANDRUM—Steps to HOPE will hold its L.O.V.E Boat Charity Gala on Saturday, February 24, at the Landrum Farmers Market. L.O.V.E. is an acronym for Let’s Overcome Violence Everywhere.  

The event will feature live music from Special Edition and dancing until 10 p.m. and will include an open bar, hors d’oeuvres and dinner. Ticket prices for the fundraiser are $125 each.

The proceeds from this year’s gala will help fund the needs of the new shelter by furnishing specific rooms and providing ongoing support to those in need, with a goal of raising $100,000. There will be a silent auction featuring themed gift baskets, and auction winners and donors can choose two new programs for their donations to fund. Fund-A-Need will assist in equipment and furnishments, and The Giving Tree goes toward financial needs such as children’s school clothing and auto repairs. 

“This year, we are raising money to furnish a new shelter for Steps to HOPE,” said Executive Director Diane Nelson. “It is our ‘safe house’ for those who come for sanctuary when leaving a dangerous home situation. We are building a new structure but will have more details on that in the near future.

“We house everyone, including adults and children, and we need a larger space configured differently with all the families and children that we serve.”

The Steps to Hope L.O.V.E. Boat Charity Gala will be held at the Landrum Farmers Market, located at 221 West Rutherford St in Landrum, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at stepstohope.org.
