Disney fan chosen to DJ four track on radio show

COLUMBUS—An 8-year-old boy from Columbus has been selected to DJ four songs on the “Be Our Guest 4 the Day” radio show on Sirius XM’s Disney Hits Channel.

Rory Raymer, a Disney fan, applied to the show in August and was thrilled to learn that he had been chosen. “Be Our Guest 4 the Day” is a show where two Disney Hits listeners are selected each week to share their love for Disney and play their favorite Disney tracks.

Rory was asked to record a script, tell a few stories and pick four songs to be played on the show. Rory’s song choices were “Route 66” by John Mayer from the movie Cars, “One Little Slip” by Barenaked Ladies from Chicken Little, “You’re Welcome” by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson from Moana since his mom often sings it to him and “The Incredits’” from The Incredibles, his favorite Disney film.

This week, Rory was one of the show’s guests for the day and was on the air twice on Tuesday. He is scheduled to make four more appearances this week. A nervous Rory listened in the family truck with his mom, Leigh Raymer, and they both enjoyed replaying it for his dad, Tyler, later in the day and seeing his reaction.

Leigh was proud of her son’s performance. “He was elegant in his speech, and as a parent, it was wonderful to see him show his potential,” she said.

Rory introduced himself on the show as Rory from Columbus, North Carolina, making sure to represent his hometown. When asked about his thoughts on the appearance, Rory was already thinking ahead about the family’s upcoming Disney Cruise.

For those who missed Rory’s appearance, it will be replayed on the Sirius XM Radio Disney Hits channel show “Be Our Guest 4 the Day” at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
