Show runs September, 28 to October 1
TRYON—Thursday, September 28, is the opening night for Tryon Little Theater’s “Honky Tonk Angels,” performed on the big stage at the Tryon Fine Arts Center.
Written by Ted Swindley, the show is a funny, heart-wrenching, foot-stomping journey that follows the lives of three gutsy gals from different backgrounds, who decide to follow their dreams to the stages of Nashville.
Director Dan Harvey was fortunate enough to find three excellent, seasoned actors with strong vocal and acting talents (Maggie Carter, Leslie Hendon, and Lori Lee) to play the “Honky Tonk Angels.” These three ladies carry an entire show of 30 country and gospel songs, dancing and dialogue.
Pam McNeil is the musical director for the show, and Peggy Magarahan is the choreographer. The show is a marvelous collection of tribute songs to performers like Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn and many more. Each song reflects a character in the show, their journey and their emotions.
The show runs through October 1, and starts at 7:30 p.m. for the evening performances and 3 p.m. for the Sunday matinee. There is an opening-night reception an hour before the show on Thursday. Tickets are $25, and $12 for those under 18. Visit tltinfo.org or call (828) 859-2466 for more information.
