The Tryon Country Club Men’s Golf Association played a ‘Carolina Scramble” on September 11. They also had closest-to-the-pin contests on both par threes. There were seven foursomes competing and the results were as follows.

 

1st place – Keith Beaver, Jim Diggs, Mike Axelrod – 31

2nd place – Brad Rakow, Roger Dehnel, Mike Burrell, John House – 32

3rd place – Mike Bates, Donnie Carruth, Bill Kelly, Jim Shirley – 34

Closest-to-the-pin on #12 – (Forward Tees) – Dennis Sakos – 19’ 1”

The Tryon Country Club Women’s Golf Association played a Best Ball of Four format on September 12. They also had a closest-to-the-pin contest on hole #3. There were 24 players competing for the win. The results were as follows:

 

1st place – Nancy Mahler, Claudia Law, Jo Ann Silvia, Brenda Hudson – 27

2nd place – Joyce Arledge, Diane Torres, Cindy Caldwell, Sally Roden – 27 – lost in scorecard playoff

3rd place – Marge Avery, Lisa Bjerring, Inglis Sellick, Heidi Shull – 29

4th place – Kathy Clark, Lynn Morrill, Caroline Brown, Anne Connolly – 30
