The 2022 mid-term election provided a chance for Saluda Elementary first graders to learn more about the political process.
Students in Stephanie Fletcher’s class spent part of Election Day taking part in their own voting. After reading Duck for President and Grace for President, students made a list of the pros and cons of each candidate. Class members then made campaign posters and presented those to their classmates.
Finally, students voted for their choice, with Duck winning by one vote and giving students a bonus lesson on the importance of every vote.
