Tree damages equipment, blocks roadway
TRYON––On Monday morning, a large tree fell on East Howard St. in Tryon, closing off traffic while officials worked to clear the area.
The tree fell on East Howard St. just before Peake St., blocking the roadway. A power line was involved in the incident, so officials were not able to remove the tree until after Duke Energy arrived to assess the damaged equipment.
Duke Energy told Tryon Daily Bulletin that 932 people in Tryon were out of power due to the fallen tree, which damaged power equipment.
