Polk County High School Principal Dr. Brandon Schweitzer is moving into a new role with Polk County Schools.

 

Dr. Schweitzer has been named the district’s Director of Operations, moving into a new position created by the pending retirement of Assistant Superintendent David Scherping. The Polk County Board of Education approved the selection of Schweitzer at its monthly meeting on Monday at Stearns Education Center.

 

Dr. Schweitzer became the 10th principal in Polk County High School history in 2016. He joined the school’s faculty in 2007 as a social studies teacher before assuming the role of assistant principal in 2011.

 

“Working at Polk County High School for the past 15 years, I have had the opportunity to serve as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, athletic director and principal,” Dr. Schweitzer said. “The experience has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

 

“In my career at PCHS, I have been fortunate to work alongside some of the best educators I have ever known. The culture of putting students and families first and doing whatever it takes to provide the highest quality education possible is one that existed at PCHS long before I arrived. I am proud to say that culture will extend long after my tenure as principal because of the dedication of our staff and support of our community and district.

 

“I am excited about the opportunity to serve Polk County Schools in a new way and leverage my skill set to give back to our schools and community.”

 

In his new role, Dr. Schweitzer will handle a wide range of responsiiblities, including school safety, facility management, technology infrastructure/operations, behavior appeals and enrollment.

 

“Polk County Schools is pleased to announce that Dr. Brandon Schweitzer will be moving to a district level position as Director of Operations,” said Polk County Schools Superintendent Aaron Greene. “Dr. Schweitzer has done an admirable job leading Polk County High School for the past six years and through some very challenging times.

 

“His experience and dedication to our students and families will serve him well in this new role.”

 

Greene said the district would begin an immediate search to replace Dr. Schweitzer at PCHS.
