Tryon resident pleads guilty to 16 counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty

Woman also has pending charges in surrounding counties
POLK COUNTY––Earlier this month, Tryon resident Sarah Kathryn Stepp, 22, of 1896 East Green Creek Drive, pled guilty to 16 counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty charges and 1 count of improper disposal of a deceased animal.
Last October, the Sheriff’s Office charged Stepp for the misdemeanor animal cruelty charges, and she was given a $15,000 bond.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office announced this week that the court ordered Stepp to pay $4,289.50 in restitution, and she is not allowed to own or possess any animals for two years. Stepp also has pending charges in Buncombe and Haywood Counties for narcotics and larceny.
