Has your child or grandchild expressed interest in attending summer camp? Do you need some ideas for a holiday present this year? 4-H summer camp could just be the thing that you are looking for.
If you register a child to attend 4-H summer camp with Polk County 4-H by December 17, 4-H will provide you with a holiday package to give to them that includes a summer camp gift certificate, a 4-H backpack, and more.
Polk County 4-H will be camping at the Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center (Reidsville, N.C.) from June 26 – July 1, 2022. Nestled on nearly 200 acres of forests, lakes, streams, and fields in the North Carolina Piedmont, the camp center is accredited by the American Camping Association which ensures BJP adheres to the highest standards for safety, operations, and program quality.
Youth will participate in traditional camp activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, shooting sports, ropes courses, and arts and crafts, as well as coastal ecology and crabbing. Summer camps offer youth the ability to create memories and friendships while building skills such as teamwork, social skills, and character development to become more successful in life.
Polk County welcomes children ages 8-12 to register for camp this year. It is not necessary to be a 4-H member to attend camp. If families wish to send a child to 4-H camp, but they are unable to attend with Polk County, you may also select the camp and week of choice and register independently though the NC 4-H website at www.nc4h.ces.ncsu.edu.
For more information or to register for camp, contact Helen Blackwell at the NC Cooperative Extension Center in Polk County by phone at 828-894-8218. Families may also register on the Cooperative Extension website, www.polk.ces.ncsu.edu.
