The Rotary Club of Tryon partnered with The Rural Seed and Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry to help feed local families this week. Rotary President Stacy Lindsey, along with Rotarians Skip Taylor, John Gargiulo and Carol Browning, worked with the TBOM and the Rural Seed to help prepare meals and staff a free community food distribution in Columbus.

The Rotary Club of Tryon partners with the Rural Seed to provide lunch at their weekly meeting. Since the Club is only meeting online now, they no longer need the lunches. The Club committed the money they would normally pay for lunches to pay for the meals provided during the meal distribution.

Margot Carter, Development Director at TBOM said “When the Rotary Club of Tryon shared their idea of how they wanted to support our restaurant program, I was ecstatic. I love how our community comes together in a crisis and looks for opportunities to help one another.”

The distribution at Rural Seed was the 12th Restaurant Program organized by TBOM. The program has distributed over 1,000 meals to needy families in our community. The program helps provide food for families while it also helps the restaurants keep their employees working at a time when most people are not going out to eat.

The Rotary Club of Tryon is devoted to service and this program helped meet a need in our community.
