Former Tryon band director found dead
Bryant Poole was missing since early May; found deceased in Georgia
GEORGIA—Former Tryon City Schools Band Director Bryant Alexander Poole went missing earlier this month and was found dead in Georgia on Saturday.
A Silver Alert was issued last week out of Asheville for Poole, who has last spoken to his family on May 2.
Poole was found on Saturday in a rural area in Echols County, Georgia.
The Asheville Police Department is working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Echols County law enforcement to determine the circumstances of Poole’s death.
Poole, 71, was believed to be driving a 2012 Hyundai Tucson and traveling with a dog when police began searching for him on May 8. The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons said Poole was believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.
Poole was the band director at Tryon High School for many years. He started his career in Tryon in 1970 and later moved to Asheville.
