Saluda battles forest fire
Fire was slow moving Tuesday night and burned 5-10 acres
SALUDA—The Saluda Fire and Rescue Department battled a brush fire Tuesday night in the area of Melrose Lake Road.
Crews said the fire was in a remote location near the South Carolina state line and was very difficult to access.
The fire was approximately 5-10 acres in size Tuesday night and was moving slow when the department made its reports.
There were no structures in immediate danger.
The North Carolina Forest Service was called in to assist with the fire, with crews calling in helicopters to dump water in the hard to reach location.
