Applications for the Foothills Music Club scholarship auditions must be postmarked by Monday, February 10.
Young musicians currently in grades 9 through 12 in Polk or Rutherford Counties and Landrum who have had a minimum of three years of study in instrumental or vocal music are eligible to apply.
Students who meet the requirements can obtain application forms and scholarship information from their school or private music teachers. These forms may also be requested by e-mail to shackelford436@gmail.com or accessed for printing at www.foothillsmusicclub.org.
Auditions for scholarships will be held Friday afternoon, March 6, and Saturday morning, March 7, in the choir room of the Tryon Presbyterian Church, 430 Harmon Field Road in Tryon.
The scholarships are to be applied to the cost of lessons, purchase of music, repair/purchase of instruments, or attendance at music camp. In addition to receiving monetary recognition, winners will be expected to perform for the Foothills Music Club membership on April 9.
Any questions about scholarships and auditions should be directed to Jeanette Shackelford, FMC scholarship chair, at 828-859-0461 or shackelford436@gmail.com.
