Letter to the Editor

Tryon and Polk County lost a very valuable asset with the death of Bill Miller. Bill was a highly respected lawyer and community leader in Polk County for over 50 years. He was a highly ethical and popular figure in the county.

Tryon will be forever indebted to Bill and his wise counsel. Though he was a very successful lawyer, his accomplishments are too lengthy to list here. He was particularly proud of being a founding member of the Stuart and Margaret Forbes Foundation which benefits local public school initiatives. He also led the effort to fund the Hospice House Facility in Landrum.

Though he was a very successful attorney, he never sought publicity or acclaim. However, behind the scenes he was extremely active in many worthy community projects. He was generous with his time and assets. Never boastful or arrogant, he made life better for current Tryon residents. More importantly, he made life better for many future Tryonites. I am proud to call Bill Miller my friend.
