Carolyn Hicks named to Second Wind Hall of Fame

Tryon Historical Museum honored Carolyn Hicks with the Second Wind Hall of Fame award. Presenting the award is Linda Lee Reynolds, President of the museum. 

  Carolyn moved from Wyoming to Tryon in 2013 after a 34 year career in teaching and as a Park County Sheriff. 

Once here, she hit the ground running!  Carolyn is very active at her church, Tryon Presbyterian, serving on the Presbyterian Women Co Team and Moderator of Glory Girls Circle. In the past, she has served on the Christian Education committee, Creative Ministries for PW, co-chaired the Strawberry Festival for PW and a member of the Chancel Choir.

  She is a recent award winner with Beta Sigma Phi, Hendersonville, NC. 

Carolyn is co-chair for annual tea and chair of scholarships with the AAUW. 

  There are many facets to Carolyn’s volunteer interests. She is currently a docent for the Tryon Historical Museum and coordinates volunteers for Tales of Tryon. She is a member of Questers, Spartanburg County Historical Assoc., Green Blades Garden Club (Chair of Tryon City Garden) and in the past, Master Gardener volunteered at Polk County Extension Center. 

  Among other interests, Carolyn is involved with Polk County Book Club, Landrum Library Book Club and chairs Friends of Landrum Library. She also participates in the Polk County Sewing Club and volunteers at TFAC. 

  The Second Wind Hall of Fame is an organization that seeks to identify those outstanding volunteers over the age of 60 who contribute to the quality of life in our community.  If you know of someone who needs to be honored in this way, please submit his or her name to Second Wind Hall of Fame at P.O.
