The New Year found several Sunny View School fifth-graders enjoying their “just desserts.” In order to keep her students reading during the busy fall/winter holiday seasons, teacher Gina Kelly-Price challenged her students to read 40 books of specific, varied genres. They read poetry, science fiction, mysteries, historical fiction, folktales, fantasy, informational books and others. Eight students completed the challenge, and, on Jan. 7, were treated to a special field trip to McDonald’s for a sweet treat, along with outside playtime. (Submitted by Angela Hall)
