A first-half surge carried Avery to a 34-15 win over Polk County on Tuesday in Western Highlands Conference junior varsity girls basketball action at Polk.

The Vikings rolled to a 22-4 lead at the half over a Polk County team playing its first game in more than a month. The Wolverines (3-1) hadn’t been on the court since a Dec. 7 win over East Henderson.

Kaylin Jenkins scored seven points to lead Polk, with Sara Wilson, Alana Jergenson and Emiiy Prince each adding two.

Savannah Parris and Lauren Dotson each added one point for the Wolverines, who are slated to return to action Friday at home against Mitchell.
