Landrum Christmas parade, stroll rescheduled

The Landrum Christmas Parade and Stroll, originally scheduled for Dec. 8, has been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 15, due to the unpredictability of the weather last weekend.

The events include a stroll of downtown businesses decorated for the holiday season, a pop-up Christmas market on North Trade Avenue, and the 1 p.m. parade featuring Santa, who will greet children at Brookwood Park from 2-3:30 p.m. A variety of food vendors will be set-up by 11:30 a.m., also at Brookwood Park.

Parade registrations are still available by contacting Warren Ashmore at Landrum Fire & Rescue at 864-457-3101. Line-up will begin at noon at the Depot.

Information

• The parade is at 1 p.m.

• The downtown stroll is all day; merchant hours vary.

• Tricia Taber is the grand marshal. Both she and Santa will ride in a horse-drawn carriages, provided by Elizabeth Holzschuh, Carolina Horse and Carriage LLC.

• Santa will greet children at Brookwood Park from 2-3:30 p.m.

• Food vendors at Brookwood Park will be ready to serve by 11:30 a.m. Food items include barbecue, drinks, hot dogs, hot drinks, gourmet peanuts, cotton candy, funnel cakes, fried ​​​​​Oreos, nachos, chips and candy apples.

• Parade-watchers cannot park on North Trade Avenue this year. Guests are welcome to bring a chair or blankets. The road will close at 11 a.m.

• A pop-up Christmas Market  will take place on the North Trade green from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bridgette Sims will coordinate. Those interested in vending may contact her at pinkbugllc@outlook.com.

• Horse drawn carriage rides take place in town in the afternoon.

Parking areas for parade

Fred’s parking lot, field behind Landrum Family Practice, First Baptist Landrum parking lots, lot directly behind City Hall, the Landrum Youth Sports field parking lot and Landrum United Methodist Church parking lots. Guests are asked to not park in The Hot Spot, as the owner said cars will be towed.

Parade Information

• All proceeds from parade entries will benefit a Landrum area charity.  Dignitaries include the parade’s grand marshal, local elected officials and, of course, Santa.

• Due to traffic congestion on North Trade Avenue, participants are encouraged to load floats prior to parade line-up. This can be done in the Fred’s/Burke’s parking lot.

• The parade route begins on North Trade Avenue between the depot and the fire station.  It continues down North Trade Avenue, turning left on East Rutherford and progresses to Redland Road with a right turn at O. P. Earle Elementary School. The parade ends at Landrum Middle School.

City of Landrum personnel, emergency services and the Landrum Area Business Association will assist with this year’s parade and stroll.
