Green Creek Hounds Opening Hunt set for Nov. 10

Published 5:38 pm Tuesday, September 25, 2018

The Green Creek Hounds will offer members of the community a chance to ride on wagons and watch the Blessing of the Hounds during its Opening Hunt, which will take place Nov. 10.

From the view of the wagons, guests also will see the pageantry of the horses, riders and the actual hunt.

The Hounds’ Tally Ho wagons have become extremely popular, are always filled and there is always a waiting list. Because of this, the hunt has developed a plan for signing up.

No reservation will be accepted without payment and it is first received that determines who gets to participate in the opening hunt. There are no refunds, as this is a fundraising event for the hunt.

The price includes the ride on the wagon, drinks, food and an invitation to the Masters Breakfast, which follows the hunt and is held at the Watson House on John Watson Road. Attendees will receive directions and times of events once their reservation is recorded.

Guests should plan to spend from 9:15 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the event.

Nonmember sign-up begins Wednesday, Oct. 1, and is determined by postmark or hand delivery. No early sign ups. Slots will be filled first come first served.

Those interested can mail or hand deliver reservations to Elaine Hobbs, 505 Caledonia Loop, Landrum, SC 29356.
