Cooperative Extension to offer food preservation course July 30

The Polk County Cooperative Extension will offer a class on canning and pressure cookers later this month.
The class will be held at the Polk County Extension Center on Monday, July 30. Two 3-hour workshop will be offered: one at 2 p.m. and another at 6 p.m. Both classes will cover the same materials.
There is a small fee for the class.
The hands-on classes will take participants step by step through the process of using a pressure cooker. “Food Preservation Made Easy” will provide an introduction to the scientific research behind safe food preservation and the best practices to assure that home-preserved foods look beautiful, taste fresh and will not make anyone sick.
The course is intended for beginners and veterans alike.
