Recognizing one of South Carolina’s star chefs

Landrum Mayor Robert Briggs presents Sarah McClure, chef and co-owner of the city’s Southside Smokehouse BBQ and Grill, with a plaque recognizing her recent designation as a 2018 South Carolina Chef Ambassador during Tuesday’s meeting of the Landrum City Council. South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster named the area chef as one of the state’s four chef ambassadors late last year. With her title, McClure has the opportunity to travel throughout the state — and country — to participate in different food festivals and tastings. McClure could only stop by city hall for a few minutes Tuesday, as, back at Southside, she needed to give her crew a hand in taking care of a large party for dinner, she said. (Photo by Ted Yoakum)
