With a second-place region finish under their belts, Landrum’s women Cardinals face their first state-playoff basketball rival, Ninety-Six, at 6 p.m., Tuesday at Landrum.
Thanks to double-digit scoring by Lindsey Hardin, Sarah Price and Ellen Boatwright, and clutch foul shooting late in the game, the Cardinals ended their regular season by tripping host Blacksburg, 75-72, on Thursday.
Finishing the regular season at 19-4 overall, and 8-2 in Region 1-2A, the Cardinals will host Ninety-Six, which ended its season at 3-11 and 1-5 (different region), respectively. If the Cardinals defeat Ninety-Six, they will travel to Keenan on Friday for round two.
“Price also had two steals the last two possessions, that helped us run the clock out,” said Cardinal head coach Deon Brice.
