LANDRUM – The City of Landrum is selling off five of their older vehicles that have been used for the police department. The vehicles are being offered through a silent auction and anyone interested in bidding can place a sealed bid between now and Feb. 16.
Of the five vehicles being sold, four are Ford Crown Victorias and one is a 2000 Ford Explorer. Years for the Crown Victorias are 2005, 2006 and 2008. The cars are sold “as is.” All the vehicles run, but need some sort of service such as transmission or power steering work. Description states that they all “start with boost.” Mileage for the vehicles ranges from 121,000 to 193,000.
Landrum City Administrator Rich Caplan said the city recently purchased four new cars to replace those being sold. “We removed the equipment, such as the radios, out of old cars to be used in the new cars,” Caplan said.
According to Caplan, the funds from the sale of the old vehicles will be used for future purchases of police vehicles as they are needed.
Anyone wishing to inspect the vehicles should contact Landrum Police Officer Bouwkamp at 864-457-7281. Bids may be placed before Feb. 16 at Landrum City Hall, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
