Not every opponent will challenge the Landrum women’s basketball team as much as did Blacksburg last Tuesday, Jan. 23. Friday’s game at Chesnee was a good example, the Cardinals crushing the Chesnee Eagles, 80-34.
Instead of one scorer tearing it up for Landrum, the Cardinals shared the scoring. Lindsey Hardin’s 13 points led the winners, with Sarah Price (10 points), Makena Israel (10 points), Sarah Harris (nine points, all on three-pointers, and Rachel Lanford (nine points) helping make the evening miserable for the Eagles.
After the first quarter, Landrum led the Eagles, 20-5. At the half, the Cardinals were in front by 41-17.
Head coach Deon Brice’s Cardinals extended their overall record to 16-3, and their region mark to 5-1, while the Eagles fell to 1-15, and 0-5, respectively.
This Tuesday, Jan. 30, the Cardinals visit St. Joseph’s Catholic. On Friday Feb. 2, they host Christ Church Episcopal, the only region team to top the Cardinals, and now 6-0 in region competition.
