Landrum elects new city council member, County residents vote for added sales tax

LANDRUM – By press time Tuesday, Nov. 7, with 71 precincts reporting in, Landrum has a new city council member. Daniel L. Prince edged out Randy Wohnig with 14 more votes in the unofficial count.

Spartanburg County residents voted almost two to one in favor of the one percent sales tax increase. With 92 out of 105 precincts reporting in, unofficial results showed yes votes at 15,262 and 8,994 voting no.

In the Landrum City Council race Tammy Wells Cox, Billy H. Inman III and Daniel Prince were the three top vote getters with 71 precincts reporting in. Unofficial numbers showed Cox receiving 153 votes by 10 p.m., beating Inman’s unofficial count of 129. Prince, a newcomer to the board, followed with 119 votes.

As of press time 92 precincts for Spartanburg School Board District 1 had reported in, showing Mark Holden, Henry Gramling, Mark Rollins being re-elected. Holden lead the unofficial count with 984 votes. Gramling was racing second with 939 votes and Rollins came in with 882 votes behind the leaders.

It appears Joel Pack and Jeff Sumner will take the other two seats with Pack receiving 851 votes and Sumner closing in at 792.

As of press time there was no information available for Landrum Fire and Rescue District Area 1 Fire Commissioner.
