The Foothills Music Club will present its second mother/daughter duo Thursday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. at ICC Polk campus. Elaine Creasy Grella and her mother Fran Creasy will play a flute duet accompanied by Karen Crutchfield, sister of club president Elaine Jenkins. Elaine will also play a flute solo.
Mother and daughter are alumnae of Salem College and both have degrees in flute. Fran was a band, choral director and classroom music teacher, and retired as a church music director. She taught flute for 40 years. Elaine plays in the Asheville Community Band, for weddings, churches, and ensembles around Asheville. She retired after 30 years of teaching in grades K-8 in Buncombe County. She also teaches flute privately.
Karen Crutchfield has degrees in music history and bassoon performance. She considers piano accompaniment an art form (in the style of Gerald Moore’s The Unashamed Accompanist.)
The concert is open to the public and donations for the Young Musicians Scholarship Program will be accepted.
