On their Oct. 12 visit to a special assembly at Saluda Elementary School, Hincapie bicycle road racing team members Andrew Dalheim (near) and Brendan Rhim (farther back) explained what it’s like to be a professional rider. Dalheim displays one of the lightweight and aerodynamic carbon training rims (wheels), while Rhim explains the benefits of cycling glasses. They also answered questions from students. Rhim and Dalheim compete in the U.S. and internationally and will participate in this Saturday’s Gran Fondo Hincapie, which will begin and end at Hotel Domestique, off Old U.S. 25, just north of Travelers Rest, S.C. Polk County residents are encouraged to cheer on the riders in Tryon, where the first riders will pass through around 9:50-10 a.m., and also at their second rest stop, Saluda Elementary School from around 11 a.m. to noon.
