Tammy Swain of Main Street Salon on E. Rutherford Street in Landrum put up the first entry in Landrum’s fifth annual Great Scarecrow Contest, now underway through Oct. 30. Visitors can expect to find 44 scarecrows ranging from Wonder Woman, pictured here, to Charlie Brown, a scarepig and other original designs. Ballots to vote for the top three favorites are found at participating businesses and may be deposited at kiosks in front of The Hare and Hound and in front of Elaine’s Attic Quilt Shop. The Landrum Community Events Team is coordinating fall events which will include an Oct. 31 Halloween Stroll and Fall Festival downtown from 5-7 p.m. (Submitted by Ellen Henderson)
