Traditional music day camp offered July 17-21

Friends, family, and the public are invited to see the Pacolet Junior Appalachian Musicians (PacJAM) Summer Camp participants strut their stuff at a free concert on Friday, July 21 at noon on the Veh Stage at Tryon Fine Arts Center. PacJAM performers will present favorite bluegrass songs and traditional tunes that will get your foot tapping along. Following the concert, there will be a potluck lunch, so bring a dish to share with the community of young musicians.

Students ages 8-14 will spend the week before the concert learning traditional Appalachian singing, dancing, storytelling, as well as tunes on the mandolin, banjo, guitar, and fiddle. Adults ages 15 and up will also participate in music workshops on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Instruction will be provided by professional, regional musicians.
