Mrs. Jackie Green’s second through fourth grade classes have been waiting for the arrival of spring baby chicks as a part of their science curriculum. Watching the incubator and using candles to tell how the eggs were progressing left lasting impressions of the life cycle of chicks on the students. One chick succeeded in pecking a hole in its shell but was too weak to get all the way free. With the help of student Nadia Milks, Gamecock, the chick, made it out of the shell but was weak for several days. The students helped Gamecock and now the little chick is thriving and doing well.
