On Jan. 5, community leaders in the arts, education, and local business came together at Black Coffee in downtown Tryon for a preliminary meeting to discuss a new opportunity called “The Unity Project.”
Tryon Fine Arts Center received a free community event grant from Polk County Community Foundation for this new initiative which seeks to unite the community through art. Local and professional artists will work side by side with Polk County and Landrum residents to create a collage of the region’s view of unity.
Representatives from Isothermal Community College, the Upstairs Artspace, Tryon Little Theater, Tryon Arts and Crafts, Tryon Fine Arts Center, Polk County Schools, the Meeting Place and other groups met to discuss plans for the project to begin in March.
