Tryon Half Marathon: Giving back one step at a time

Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry (Outreach) and the Tryon Running Club are hosting the Tryon Half Marathon on Saturday, Nov. 12 at Harmon Field in Tryon. This annual race, presented by Wells Fargo Advisors of Tryon and PRO Physical Therapy of Columbus, will offer participants the opportunity to enjoy scenic mountain views without all the hills.

“Fall temperatures and a mostly dirt and gravel course that meanders along a riverside through Tryon’s famous horse country are all that is needed to make this an unbelievable running experience,” says Laura Phelps of the Tryon Running Club. To learn more about the racecourse, visit tryonrunners.blogspot.com.

100 percent of the net proceeds will be donated to Outreach. “It takes endurance, dedication and focus to outrun poverty in Polk County. We are grateful to be part of this exciting, annual event,” said Outreach executive director, George Alley. Main Street Insurance Group, Columbus Data, and Entegra Bank are also sponsoring this community event.
