Storytelling at Lanier: Singing, spells, and other truths and fictions
Published 10:00 pm Thursday, October 13, 2016
Live @ Lanier on Tuesday, Oct.18, 12 p.m., will feature local storyteller Dorothy Kirk, who will reveal how “Singing Changed My Life Twice.” She will also tell how the spell of a wedding ring slipped in jest on the finger of a corpse personally affects her.
Both will be told in context of a broader story about storytelling including the differences between anecdotes, jokes, and stories, and the types of stories over time from Gilgamesh to the Jack Tales of Appalachia, and the personal stories of today.
