When Polk County opens its 2016 football season at Chase tonight, the Wolverines will face what Polk head coach Jamie Thompson calls “an athletic team. They play in a tough (South Mountain 2A/3A) division,” Thompson continued.
Especially being the season opener, “it’s a huge game for us,” Thompson emphasized.
“Last year, we were down at halftime, and came back to win by a couple of scores (23-13”).
New for the Chase this season is the Trojans’ spread offense.
New for the Wolverines is quarterback Dillon Overholt, one of Thompson’s players replacing last year’s seniors.
Overholt, a junior, has shown speed, athletic ability and composure.
Does Thompson have confidence in him?
“I do,” he asserted.
Opening kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
