Landrum grad receives doctorate

Barak Walker Gunter was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in n neuroscience during the commencement ceremony, Friday, May 27, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, Miss. Gunter received his doctoral hood from his mentor, faculty chair Dr. James Rowlatt, professor of psychiatry and neuroscience, as part of the ceremony.

Dr. Gunter is currently on the faculty at the Center for Neuroscience, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn. He is married to Megan Salvano, of Lawrence, Mich. and is the son of Lisa and Dennis Gunter of Landrum, S.C.

Dr. Gunter is a 2002 graduate of Landrum High School and 2006 graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in microbiology.
