Internationally acclaimed, men’s a capella chamber ensemble Cantus is bringing their vocal expression of human emotion to the Foundation Performing Arts & Conference Center with their performance of “The Four Loves” on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Comprised of nine professional vocalists, Cantus performs music ranging from Renaissance-era ballads to contemporary hits. With no conductor, they sing together as chamber musicians with a “wide-ranging stylistic fluency” and “exalting finesse” (The Washington Post), engaging with the audience on a personal, intellectual level. Impressing audiences worldwide, the International Record Review commends Cantus as “just the sort of unstuffy and engaging ensemble this nation needs more of.”

With over three million views on YouTube, Cantus also contributed their vocals to the Frozen motion picture soundtrack hit song “Vuelie” just two years ago.

Hailed by Fanfare as “the premier men’s vocal ensemble in the United States,” Cantus was also awarded the prestigious Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence by Chorus America, and Minnesota Public Radio hosted the group as their Artists-In-Residence for their 2010-2011 season. Cantus is active in educational outreach programs and recordings in the Minneapolis area, even holding open rehearsals.

“The Four Loves” performance promises to explore the most complex human emotion, with works from Poulenc, Grieg, Beethoven, David Lang, Joseph Gregorio, and more.
