On Sunday, Jan. 24 at 4 p.m., FENCE will host Anna Alsobrook to speak on Senegal, Africa. Anna will speak about her time spent in the Peace Corps serving in that country.

She did not realize then the connections between water quality and health. The issues surrounding the topic fascinated her and she began studying it from different perspectives, population pressures, environmental changes, land-use impacts, etc. As a preventative health and environmental education volunteer, she spent much time promoting water conservation and sanitation practices within her village.

Her thesis research pertained to the environmental and social effects of a large reforestation project happening in Senegal, particularly how it was affecting access to water for local populations. Join us for this great educational armchair traveler.

This program is made possible for the Kirby Endowment at the Polk County Community Foundation.
