The eighth annual Singing for the Soldiers will take place Monday, May 25 at 5 p.m. at the Columbus Veterans Park on Ward St. in Columbus. In case of rain, it will be held inside the fire department.

Musical guests include gospel music hall of fame member Archie Watkins of The Inspirations, nationally known southern gospel quartet Soul Vision, and Colt Creek Bluegrass.

For admission, attendees are asked to bring care package items such as toiletries, non-perishable snacks and other items for the troops overseas to remind them we care.

Hot dog plates, roasted corn, desserts and drinks will be sold to benefit sending care packages to our troops. Any size monetary donations are also accepted.

A patriotic ceremony will be given by the Polk County honor guard. For information call 828-899-2001 or 828-749-3347.
