After traveling to Owen today, Polk’s JV and varsity baseball teams are slated to host Hendersonville on Thursday, at 4 and 6:30 p.m., respectively.
On Friday, March 27, in non-conference action the Wolverines (5-6 overall, and 3-2 in Western Highlands Conference play) absorbed a 15-2 loss to Christ School on the road.
As of last week, Owen was 3-4 overall and 3-0 in WHC play. That does not include the Warhorses’ March 26 game against a very good Hendersonville team, for which no score had been reported.
In Polk’s 6-1 win over Avery last Tuesday, March 24, Wolverines’ head coach Ty Stott observed, “We had a better approach at the plate against Avery. We hit the ball better, and played small ball, with some good base running and bunting. Morgan Groves pitched a three-hitter and went all seven innings for his first win of the season. J.D. Edwards, Daniel Painter and Tyler Campbell had two hits each for us.”
