Laurelhurst collecting toys for Christmas

Published 8:40 pm Thursday, November 13, 2014

The residents at LaurelHurst Retirement Community participate in a “Charity of the Month” and are currently collecting toys and gifts to give to children at Christmas.  With the help of the public, they were so successful in collecting over 1,000 books for Operation Paperback that they’ve decided to once again call on our generous community for help.

All items need to be unwrapped and new. The gifts will be donated to the Department of Social Services and Thermal Belt Outreach Ministries.

The gifts that are most needed are for 10, 11 and 12-year-olds.  They want board games, DVDs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Axe Cologne, appropriate jewelry, craft kits for making jewelry, sewing kits, paint by numbers, Barbie dolls, Cabbage Patch dolls, footballs, Bath and Body products, purses, books, alarm clocks, etc. Drop off these items at LaurelHurst, 1064 West Mills St., Columbus, N.C. 28722.  For further information, call Jennifer Thompson at 828-894-3900.
