Learn to dance and support Thermal Belt Outreach

Published 9:30 pm Friday, October 3, 2014

The first month of dance lessons to raise money for Thermal Belt Outreach was a great success. Twenty-four people signed up and had a great time dancing while raising over $500 for outreach.

It’s not too late to take advantage of this great opportunity to learn to dance and support Thermal Belt Outreach. The September beginners class learned single step swing with a variety of turns and the basic rumba.  The intermediate class learned some new rumba and cha cha moves.

Now it’s time to begin a new month.  Each month, instructors Dave and Carlann Scherping will teach a new dance so anyone can join the classes at the start of a month and not feel lost. In October, they will introduce cha cha to the beginners class and triple step swing for the intermediate class.  You do not need a partner to take the classes.

The beginners class meets each Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Tryon. The intermediate class begins at 7 p.m. There is a charge for the lessons, but all proceeds go to Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry. For more information, call Dave or Carlann at 828-894-3253.
