Green River Games kick off this Friday

The second annual Green River Games will take place Friday-Sunday, Sept. 5-7 in the Green River Gorge area of Saluda.
The multi-sport competition includes biking, kayaking, running and stand up paddling.
For bikers, races include the Oskar Blues Enduro and The Sierra Nevada Silverback races; for paddlers there is the Bridge to Bridge, Mountain SUP race, the Sierra Nevada Silverback and Upper Green races; and for runners, there is the Big Hungry 10k, the Big Hungry half marathon and the Sierra Nevada Silverback.
All races take place in the state-owned Green River game lands and on the Green River.
On Saturday to wrap up events the Green River Festival will be held at the newly constructed amphitheater at McCreery Park in downtown Saluda. The Whitewater Bluegrass Company will play from 4-7 p.m. Awards from Saturday’s events will follow with the festival, which is scheduled to end at 10 p.m. The festival will also include action sports videos, beer, food and an outdoor toy chest raffle as well as music.

Registration and check-in closes 30 minutes prior to each event.
Registration will also be held on-site at the following times and locations:
Friday, Sept. 5 from 1-6 p.m. at THE GORGE
Saturday, Sept. 6 from 6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Wilderness Cove Campground
Sunday, Sept. 7 from 6:30-10 a.m. at Wilderness Cove Campground.
