The Sons of Liberty Riders (SOLR) of North Carolina and South Carolina and Asheville Tea Party (ATP) are hosting the second annual 9.11 Benghazi Memorial Ride on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014.
The Memorial Ride begins with an invocation at 3:15 p.m. at Veterans Park in Columbus, N.C., and terminates with a program at 5 p.m. at Harley Davidson in Greenville, S.C.
The program starts with rider registration at 3:15 p.m., welcome remarks and an invocation. Riders will depart Columbus promptly at 4 p.m. and travel with a police escort to the Harley Davidson dealer in Greenville, S.C. where the speakers program takes place from 5 – 7 p.m.
Key Note speakers are Billy and Karen Vaughn, parents of fallen Navy SEAL Team 6 member, Aaron Carson Vaughn. Billy Vaughn is also the author of the bestselling book, “Betrayed”, the shocking true story of downing of Extortion 17.
Jane Bilello, Chair of Asheville Tea Party and other grassroots leaders will contribute remarks.
The motivation for the event was the tragedy that occurred on Sept 11, 2012 in Benghazi, Libya when the U.S. Mission was attacked and overrun by Libyan rebels. That attack resulted in the tragic deaths of four Americans: Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods.
