Polk County beat Hendersonville 40-27 to capture the conference title on Friday, Nov. 8.
The game, played at home, ended Polk’s regular season with a 6-0 record in Western Highlands Conference play.
Following the game, Polk County Head Coach Bruce Ollis told his players it was “an incredible night, men.”
Polk led at the half 26-14.
After going 0-3 early in the season, Polk won eight straight games and for the first time, finished undefeated in conference play. Polk beat two strong teams in the past two weeks, including Hendersonville on Friday and Owen last week to capture the conference title. Ollis said he told his players nine weeks ago after the Wolverines lost to R-S Central they would win eight games in a row.
“We’ve beaten two good teams over the last two weeks,” Ollis said. “We’re very blessed.”
The Wolverines begin post-season play next Friday, Nov. 15 at home against a team to be announced next week.
