Polk Central raises funds for Foothills Humane Society

Each classroom was given a picture of an animal under the care of the Foothills Humane Society and during the week collected pennies or other coins to help in the care of the animal.

At the end of the week, students had collected $257 to give to Foothills Humane Society.

Recently staff from Foothills Humane Society visited the school to say thank you.

They were accompanied by one of the animals featured in the fundraising efforts.

All of the first graders were chosen to represent the school and present the check.  There was a lively question and answer about shelter animals.

Afterwards all of the interested students were allowed to pet the shelter dog who attended the presentation.
