Michel Stone, who will speak on Fearless Fiction,  has published over a dozen stories and essays, including the title story in Expecting Goodness and Other Stories, the runner-up in the Independent Publisher IPPY Awards for the top collection of short fiction in North America, 2009. Her work has appeared numerous times in the Raleigh News and Observer’s emerging Southern writers series. Stone is a winner of SC Magazine’s Very Short Fiction Contest as well as the Hub City Fiction Prize. For the past five years her short story, Relative, has been used by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for its English I Public School Testing Booklet. Michel was the editor of Outdoor Adventures in the Upcountry, a collection of essays about outdoor pursuits. She is a 2011 recipient of the South Carolina Fiction Project Award, given by the S.C. Arts Commission, and her flash fiction was a finalist in Undefined Magazine’s 2011 Creative Writing Contest.  Her novel, The Iguana Tree, was published in March 2012 to enthusiastic reviews.
Pam Stone, actress, comedian and radio host, starred in the television series, Coach, for seven seasons.  She is a winner of The American Comedy Award for Best Female Stand-up, and has made dozens of television appearances. To fulfill a self-imposed vow not to turn 40 in Hollywood, Stone followed her heart and her horses and moved to Gowensville.   She was offered her own radio show (The Pam Stone Show) and picked up a Crystal Radio award and two national Gracie Awards for Best Comedy Entertainment Program along the way.  Now writing her syndicated column, I’m Just Saying (First Place winner in the 2012 SC Press Association Awards), Stone selected her readers’ favorites from 2006 and forward and compiled them into her first book, I Love Me A Turkey Butt Samwich.  Stone continues to perform stand- up comedy and co-hosts The Satisfied Life.  She also teaches and trains in the equestrian discipline of dressage and writes a monthly column for Dressage Today Magazine.  Stone’s subject will be “Write Who You Know”.
