Educational.

 

  • In the RE-5 zoning district, added school, public or private as a conditional use (C).
  • Made kindergarten/nursery schools a conditional use subject to supplemental regulations (CS) in the following zoning districts:  AR, AR-5, RE-1, RE-5, and R.
  • Added the following definition to Appendix A:

Kindergarten/Nursery School.  Any day care center which receives children between the ages of two and six years and which is established and professionally operated primarily for educational purposes to meet the developmental needs of the children served.

Institutional.

 

  • Added church, synagogue, temple or other religious buildings, including accessory services as permitted by right (P) in the MU and I zoning districts.
  • Amended the following use as noted:  Landfill or Transfer Station, Public or Private.
  • Added the following definition to Appendix A:

Transfer Station.  A place or facility where nonhazardous solid waste materials are taken from a collection vehicle, temporarily stored or stockpiled, and ultimately placed in a transportation unit for movement to another facility.

 

 

Manufacturing and Industrial.

 

  • Added research and development operations (non-hazardous materials) as a conditional use (C) in the MU zoning district.
  • Deleted Sawmill 1 and 2 and Slaughterhouse 1 and 2. Added Sawmill as a conditional use (C) in AR, MU, HC; permitted-by-right (P) in I.  Added Slaughterhouse as a conditional use (C) in MU and HC; permitted-by-right (P) in I.

 

Recreational.

 

  • In the MU zoning district, changed Arboretums and Botanical Gardens to a permitted use (P) rather than a conditional use.
  • In the MU zoning district, changed Athletic Field, Non-Commercial to a permitted use (P) rather than a conditional use.
  • Added to Table of Uses:  Nature-Oriented Non-Motorized Outdoor Recreation, permitted use (P) in the MU, HC, I zoning districts and conditional use (C) in AR and NC zoning districts.
  • Added the following definition to Appendix A:

Nature-Oriented Non-Motorized Outdoor Recreation.  Recreational uses of land conducted outside of a building, characterized by moderate impacts on the natural environment.  Such uses may be for-profit, not-for-profit or provided by a governmental entity and may be composed of a place, structure, area, or facility providing nature-oriented non-motorized recreational activities generally open to the public and designed to accommodate and serve significant segments of the community.  Examples of nature-oriented non-motorized outdoor recreational activities include, but are not limited to, hiking, noise-suppressed zip-lining, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, horseback-riding and orienteering.
